Goodbye KL, see you next year. Home sweet home, Penang!

I wave my love goodbye and started my journey back to Penang - the place where my heart is. Home sweet home.

Missing them in KL, see you next year! 2011 is coming to an end and everyone is welcoming 2012. I am so ready to leave 2011 behind. The sorrows, heartbreaks and hardship I've been through. I shall not look back but instead, I am grateful to be blessed with so many amazing things ahead of me. I am so thankful for the memories that I have and to gain so much throughout the years. Thanks to my family and friends who have helped me along the way to become the person I am today. I know there are great things waiting for me and I hope to learn much more in the future. Thank you Allah for everything and for opening my eyes to so many things. I am very much certain now that everything happens for a reason and only Allah knows better what lies ahead in the future. All the hardship I've gone through was nothing but a blessing in disguise. Have a splendid new year and hope 2012 will be a better year for all of us. May Allah bless us all with guidance to follow the right path. Amin.

How to save a life

Everyone was so busy clearing off their to-do list of 2011. So I go through mine to see what I can complete before the new year arrives. There were so many things, I don't know where to start. Been scouting for cute cats to accompany me here alone in the big house but the price is crazy! RM2.5k for a kitten and the cheapest I can find is rm999 which is still pricey. I didn't want to get from Mom because all her cats are adults. Takleh la manja2. Oh btw, I always wanted to save a life in general but I figured, why not I do something good like adopting. So on the 9th of December, we paid a visit to SPCA Ampang just to look around. There were so many cats waiting to find a new home. Well, the place is not that pleasant. Looking at all the poor cats there made me realize that people here don't really adopt animals at animal shelter. They prefer to buy instead. So, as usual being me who loves animal couldn't bare my eyes looking at all the adorable cats meow-ing. It's like they're shouting "Take me home, help me, feed me, love me." And as usual, knowing Bee - an animal lover too; we decided to adopt a grey kitten of mixed breed. She was too cute calling us and putting her hand out to touch us. (Yeah so clever of her, tricking us into the trap) and the next thing we know, Mr Bee is already signing the papers to take her home. Oh what a lucky cat. Now I'm not lonely anymore at home. Yay!
Say hello to Kiki!

A few days after we adopted her, she went missing for more than 6 hours exploring her way around Maplewoods. She squeezed herself out from the back grill door which is quite slim. Mom was so confident saying that Kiki couldn't fit into the grill so she opened the cage and let Kiki mingle around behind at the laundry place. Knowing the mastermind; somehow she did squeezed herself out and we thought we won't see her again after a few hours of hunting for Kiki. Few hours later, one of the guards saw her and kept her in a box in the guard house. On the way out from my place, Mom stopped at the guard house to check and there she was sitting in the box feeling exhausted. Poor Kiki. So, Mr Bee went over to get her and take her home! Look at how innocent she can be. Drama sungguh.
(muka buat sedih & tak bersalah. Just like puss in boots! silap2 boleh terpedaya.)

15 Quick Ways To Pick Up Your Spirits

  1. Keep a running list of inspiring quotes and uplifting jokes. Refer to them when you need to.
  2. Call a friend and ask her to tell you her favourite joke.
  3. Fake a smile for 5 or 10 minutes.
  4. Close your eyes for a few minutes.
  5. Call your mom.
  6. Look through old scrapbooks or personal journals.
  7. Go outside. A few minutes of fresh air can do wonders for your mood.
  8. Go for a very quick jog.
  9. Keep a gratitude journal, in which you write down things that you are thankful for. This is a great way to start and end each day. For a quick "pick-me-up," write as many gratitudes as you can in one minute. Don't think, just write.
  10. Make something. Use your creative mind and create something with your own two hand, whether it is a piece of jewelry, a scrapbook page, a pretty floral arrangement or a batch of cookies.
  11. What is your biggest goal (or your biggest problem)? Do one thing that will contribute to its completion (or its solution)
  12. Eat something healthy and fresh. You could be feeling blue because your blood sugar has taken a dip. Eat a bowl of fresh fruits or vegetable.
  13. Pour a cup of hot cocoa or a cup of coffee and read a favourite magazine for a few minutes.
  14. Turn on music. Your favourite tunes can really lift your spirits. Use classical and jazz to calm; rock and roll or hip hop to energize.
  15. Mark twin said," The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up." He's right, and it doen't have to mean a big time investment. Just do something thoughtful for someone, right now

If your mood doesn't brighten right awaym go with the flow. Itsokay to feel blue every now and then. Let yourself rest and give yourself time to restore your own happy mood in your own natural time.

Small Apartment or A Huge Landed Property?

Small Apartment? or A Big House?

For me, happiness isn't a small house or a big house or the things you have but the way you live and the happiness in it. Happiness isn't having what you want but wanting what you have. Everyday I thank god for blessing me with good health, caring family, a good man, a well paid job, freedom to go places and be who I am. I always remind myself to be happy for the people and things in my life that I've been blessed with. When I look back at how far I've come in life, I am so grateful and thankful for everything. Alhamdulillah. Life is getting better and better everyday, I'm not gonna complain.

Okay, back to the topic, while I was browsing I came across these cute photos of home decorating (being me; a junkie for interior design) I'd like to share it with my readers. I think its cute and frankly speaking, I don't mind having this at home if I may say. But its a lot of work I reckon. :P *teeheehee* Anyways, enjoy!

and maybe this too! ;P

Reflection of 2011 & How To Be A Happy Person Overall.

The good life, as I conceive is a happy life. I do not mean that if you are good you will be happy; I mean that if you are happy, you will be good.

Ever since happiness heard your name, it has been running through the streets to find you. No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change.

Today, I woke up with a smile on my face and feeling oh-so-happy and fresh. To hear the sweet voice of my love and to see my mom waking me up and lying down next to me on my bed was just perfect to start my day. It is true that most studies on happiness agree that family and relationships are the surest way to happiness. Most people think that money and material possessions can make one happy but the truth is there's so much more than that.

Loved ones
The happiest people spend time with those they love including family, partners and friends. The emotional support these people provide is priceless. Having people around you that you love, trust and care for makes you feel that you're not alone.

Passion / Career

Do what you like, like what you do. You have to like what you do enough to never work again. A job with a corresponding high salary isn't always what makes people happy. In fact, these jobs often make people miserable unless your heart is in what you do. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to pursue their dream job and not everyone finds meaning in their job just like myself. I like my job but I have yet to find my passion in everyday life. For now, I will just settle with what I have.

We are happiest when engaged in activities that makes us forget ourselves and lose track of time. We need our "flow" experience in daily life. Flow can be achieved when making something out of love like writing, making music, gardening, painting, practicing sports, playing with children, scrap-booking and so much more. Doing what you do best is the best way to achieve flow. By finding meaning in what you do, you will feel fulfilled and have a sense of purpose.

Positive Thinking
One attitude contributing to happiness is the refusal to compare yourself with others. Never compare. Id you really have to compare, compare down and not up. Apart from that, choose to believe the better option. For example, if your partner often works late, accept that he/she is overwhelmed with deadlines instead of telling yourself that he/she just doesn't care enough to spend time with you.

Gratitude
Happy people = grateful people.

Freedom
It is impossible to become truly happy when you don't have even a small ounce of freedom in your life. Whether its making a choice for yourself or expressing yourself creatively. Personal freedom is important.

Forgiveness
Those who cannot forgive become angry and depressed over time and suffer poorer health due to the physical reactions to these negative emotions. Let go and be happy.
Giving to others
What lifted people from depression = helping others.
Whether by volunteering to help sick people/homeless shelter, holding the hand of a terminally ill patient, raising funds for charity, help in charity events, tutoring children from poor families are all forms of giving that set us back on the path to normalcy and happiness.

Religion
A person's specific religion belief or domination does not seem to matter as much as long as they beliefs in something in life. Religion provides a personal creed, a direction in life and this sense of purpose contributes to a person's well-being and happiness.

Good Health
Maintaining your health is another way to achieve happiness.Being overweight or not eating nutritious foods can have a negative effect on your mood. Additional exercise is good so that you could release endorphins that gives you the feeling of happiness.

Keep yourself in reasonably good health so that you can enjoy life, but do not obsess over it thinking that more healthy brings more happiness. Not just healthy people are happy people but you might be surprise that ill patients and sick people are also happy people because they are grateful with what they have left still.

Understanding
Understanding what it is that will make you happy. Everyone has unique requirements for attaining happiness and what makes one happy may vary.

Success
People who have achieved personal or professional success in their life are more inclined to pursue other goals and try new experiences. They become more content with the direction their life is taking and are generally happier in the long run.

Goals
Make plans for attaining goals that you believe will make you happy. Your mood will very likely to increase as you pursue your goal because you will feel better about yourself for going after something you value.

Surrounding
Surround yourself with happy people. Happy people attract happy people and environment.

Solution
When something goes wrong, try to figure out a solution instead of wallowing in self pity. Never allow set backs to affect your mood.
Stop & Ponder
Spend a few minutes each day thinking about the things that make you happy. These few minutes will give you the opportunity to focus on the positive things in your life and will lead you to continue happiness.

Take time off
It is important to take some time each day to do something nice for yourself. Whether you treat yourself to lunch, take a long relaxing bath or simply spend a few extra minutes on your appearance for you to feel spectacularly good.

Humor

Finding the humor in situation can also lead to happiness.

Bring colors to your day with positive message.
Each morning when I open my eyes I tell myself: I, not any events have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is past, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm doing everything that I can to be happy.
